Twenty Herbs - realistic ones :)

It seems after such enthusiasm back in January I'm now thinking - armed with a new book to help me recognise & name all things growing around me - it makes much more sense to study twenty 'closer to home Herbs'.  The previous 20 listed, I simply - really - did do the 'eeeenie meannieee mineee mo' method of choice. Although they were chosen  from a local Herb nursery's website - ahem but whilst on holiday!!
(Sorry Sarah but there's always gotta be one . . . or maybe even two ..  help somebody else is surely changing their mind about some things too..  lol :)
So, my previous list, a wholly naive & most ambitious list :D which now seems rather unsound is going to be read,  researched & where necessary changed. Out will go the tricky ones & in the more common, closer to home ones.
Maybe the previous list can be attempted in Year II  :D

  • CLEAVERS Galium aparine
    Rubiaceae, Bedstraw family
  • SHEPHERDS PURSE
  • HORSETAIL   Equisetum ravens  Equisitaceae Family
  • SELF HEAL  Prunella vulgaris

  • LIME/LINDEN
  • BILBERRY
  • AGRIMONY
  • CHICKWEED

  • NETTLE
  • VERVAIN
  • RED CLOVER

  1. Your previous list was very, very ambitious! I think you are doing the wise thing reconsidering it! My unsolicited two cents worth! lol!! xxx

  2. Several of yours are on my list also! Cool! xxx I am desperate to find a guelder rose around here! I have bought the tincture and find it so very useful, I so want to meet the plant and learn from it and hopefully craft my own medicine from it someday!

  3. Well they seem a common sensible choice over here in comparison to the previous list. I am fairly sure there are many Guelder roses around here if my memory serves me well from last years photographs. I didn't know it was a rose just remember thinking what an exquisite delightful flower, unique. Of course the bulb/hip (recognising rosehip name but never associating it to a stage of growth of the rose.. duh) should've been a clue. Your very own medicine from the rose. Wonderful, I hope you find one & craft your wishes to come true sooner than you imagine :)
